Mary has spent a quarter of a century in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. For Mary, real estate is the amalgam of an interest in history (she majored in History at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas), an amateur’s knowledge of architecture (a constant source of interest to her), and years of devotion to gardening and visiting lush public gardens.
She is interested in housing and how to make it desirable and beautiful—whether it be a 90,000 dollar exquisite row home or a palatial suburban estate. “I like houses,” she explains. “I think about them all the time and have owned a good many of them myself. Probably my favorite in Lancaster was the big old box on North West End. We lived there for twelve years, rejuvenated it I shall say, and enjoyed the garden very much. A house should be a repository of talent for every member of the family, from woodwork, to design, to gardening. I like helping people find such homes. I like it very much.”
